I purchased this one-of-a-kind Turkoman rug in Peshawar, Pakistan in 1986. Woven in the N W Frontier, it was undoubtedly inspired by the USA government backing (at that time) of the Mujahadeen Afghan rebels who were then fighting the Soviet invaders. Naturally dyed wool pile on wool weft and cotton warp.
