Oriental rugs have been the focus
of my business and passion for over 35 years. Antique Oriental rugs were
my initial "world" of discovery. My understanding of what comprised a quality
Oriental rug or carpet eventually led me to seek out woven treasures from
contemporary sources (less than 50 years old) that embodied the essence
of Oriental rug weaving as art. I personally have spent much time in remote
areas of Central Asia, as well as in the U.S., searching for "quality"
Oriental rugs, carpets and weavings. My current collection is
comprised of a mixture of the antique and modern with a leaning towards the
motifs and styles considered to be classic, or traditional, within the
nomadic, semi-nomadic and village classes of weaving. It focuses not only on carpets, but
decorative and utilitarian weavings with varied uses in the life-style of
Central Asian nomads and village dwellers. This includes tent bags, tent
bands, food covers and other items with a useful purpose plus a
richness in color, texture, and pattern. Many of the carpets are of a high
quality seldom seen anywhere!
Each Oriental rug, carpet or weaving
is presented and must stand on its own merits. The qualities that make
one oriental rug desirable to own may or may not be present in another,
or all qualities may be present but in different quantities of the whole.
What is important or desired is also very personal.
Every weaving shown on these pages, whether
antique or contemporary, is of the very highest quality possible. Many
of the pieces contained here-in are of a high quality and rarity that is
seldom seen by rug lovers regardless of where they might go to acquire
their favorite carpets.
